Accredited Members of the AOA who are in good standing and who have satisfied the education and experience requirement for the Certified Member level of designation, will be permitted to sit for the certification exam which is required to satisfy the final requirement for the award of the AOA Certified Member designation. Passing grade is 75%. Exams and related material are sent to the proctor in PDF format via email. Once taken, exams are mailed back to the AOA for grading.
This is a "closed-book" exam. The student must register (see below form) for the exam and pay a $75 exam processing fee to the AOA. The exam is completed in the presence of a proctor. Proctoring can be done by public, private or military librarians; counselors at independent learning centers (e.g, Sylvan); public or private high schools counselors; counselors at military base testing centers; and counselors in public or private secondary and post-secondary educational institutions, colleges and universities. The student will be responsible for any additional fees that might be charged by the proctor. All exams must be completed and returned by the proctor to this office within 60 days of the below-scheduled exam date.
Each exam consists of 100 multiple choice and T/F questions and covers appraisal theory, principles, methodology and USPAP. Three (3) hours are allowed to take the exam. The student may wish to study for the exam by making use of the current editions of:

Submit this exam registration a minimum of two weeks prior to the scheduled exam date. The examination packet will be emailed to the proctor in PDF format upon receipt of this exam registration form and the accompanying check for $75. The proctor will then administer the exam and return the completed exam to the ACA by regular mail for grading.
Note: Do not submit this application until you are prepared to take the exam and the exam date has been set and confirmed with your proctor. You will have 30 days beyond the scheduled exam date to complete the exam and have the results returned to the AOA. If the exam is not taken within this 30-day period, the exam must be returned by your proctor to the AOA regardless. Should you fail to take the exam within this 30 day period, you must reapply and must again pay the $75 processing fee.
Proctors often offer their service at no charge, but proctoring fees may be charged. The student is responsible for paying for any fees the proctor may charge. The AOA will mail your proctor the exam materials including a Proctor Certification form. When the exam has been completed, the proctor is to return the completed exam along with the signed Proctor Certification form to the AOA.

I agree to act as proctor for the above student and to administer the requested exam in accordance with the following procedures set forth by the course provider, Association of Online Appraisers.
I agree to print out and inspect the emailed examination packet (which I understand will be emailed to me in PDF format) upon its arrival from the AOA office to ensure that it includes the cover letter/instructions from the AOA, the examination, and the Proctor's Affadavit. I will meet the student on the above noted scheduled exam date at the appointed place. I will proctor the examination, and upon its completion I will collect the exam and return it, along with the completed Proctor's Affadavit, to the AOA at the below address by regular mail. Any postage fees I incur are to be reimbursed to me by the student. As requested, I will make a confidential photocopy of the exam and keep it for a period of sixty days to be used in case the original is lost in the mail. After the 60-day period, I will destroy the exam photocopy.
